Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Welding helmet with proper filter lens

Flame-resistant clothing (long sleeves, pants)

Welding gloves in good condition

Safety boots (steel toe preferred)

Hearing protection if needed

Respirator or ventilation if fumes present

Work Area Safety

Remove flammable materials from welding area

Use welding screens to protect others from arc flash

Ensure fire extinguisher is nearby and inspected

Provide adequate ventilation

Check for tripping hazards around cables and equipment

Equipment Safety

Inspect welding machine, leads, and connections

Check electrode holder and ground clamp

Ensure cables are free from damage and insulation intact

Set correct amperage/voltage for the job

Verify grounding is secure

Safe Welding Practices

Do not weld near combustible materials

Never look at arc without proper protection

Avoid welding in wet conditions

Use proper lifting techniques for heavy gas cylinders

Close cylinder valves when not in use

Never weld on sealed containers or unknown materials
